Your driver/guide will be at Entebbe Airport to pick you up from your flight and take you directly to your booked hotel in Kampala. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may be able to explore the tourist sites in and around Kampala. Activities today are at your own cost.
Activities on this day may include visiting the Uganda Museum, The Kabakas Palace, The Royal Kasubi Tombs, The famous St Balikudembe Market, Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine, Ndere Center and so many others and the choice of the place to visit will and yours.
Today you will drive to Fort Portal in western Uganda. The route is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda.
Then you continue for about 1 hour. On arrival at the forest, you will enter a completely different world… some serious monkey business! Although you are here specifically to track Chimps, the forest is home to 12 other primate species including: the Red Tailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Black and White Colobus Monkey, and the Blue Monkey.
You will stay in a cottage, privately situated in the forest with a spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom. This is the perfect starting point of tomorrow’s activities.
Early in the morning you will go for chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of primate species in the world, including our delightful cousins, the chimpanzees. An experienced forest ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning or afternoon. You might also see other monkey species that live in this tropical forest. Once located, you will spend a full hour with the chimps. Since they are still wild animals, we can never guarantee you to see them and might have to settle with hearing their hoots and hollers.
After this amazing experience you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda’s second largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. The park has prolific game, including Gazelle, Uganda Kob, Warthog and Waterbuck. Lions are often sighted both in the park and at the entrance to the park.
Today you wake up early. A little before sunrise coffee, tea and donuts will be served in the lounge before we head out for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. You will search for all the wildlife in the park and are likely to come across Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs.
A well-deserved lunch will be served back at the lodge in the late morning.
In the afternoon you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Edward. Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine! ), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see buffalo, crocodile, bathing elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.
After the boat safari you do a game drive back to the lodge for overnight stay.
Today you drive to Lake Mutanda in the south-western part of Uganda; close to the borders with Rwanda and Congo. You cross a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’. You will pass the country-side, bamboo forest and have great views over the Virunga Mountains. For lunch you stop at a local restaurant.
Your comfortable lodge is overlooking Lake Mutanda and the Virunga volcanoes on the border with Rwanda. This will undoubtedly be one of the most spectacular views you have ever seen!
From here you will depart tomorrow for the gorilla tracking so it is best to get a good night’s sleep.
Today is the big day… prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain gorilla. For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda.
En route to the gorillas, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorilla family. Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.
Today you can do one of the optional activities organized by the lodge. Climb on one of the Virunga Volcanoes, do the Batwa (Pygmee) trail or a Golden Monkey tracking in Mgahinga N.P.
The driver will than take you to Kigali.
Depending on your arrival time you can visit some of Kigali’s craft markets, to browse among the pottery, carvings, batik, weaving, sculpture, musical instruments, leather and fabrics on offer. Prepare to haggle! All activities today are at your own cost.
You will spend the night at a lovely accommodation. Flame tree village is ideally located on the outskirts of Kigali. There is a swimming pool too.
After breakfast the driver of your hotel will take you to the airport for you morning flight with Rwandair to Kilimanjaro airport.
Note: These flights only depart on Mondays- Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. If the airline decides to change the flight times and/or days you might need to spend another night in Kigali at an additional cost. The cost of this flight is included in the price however prices are subject to change.
On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport your Tanzanian driver will pick you from the airport and transfer you to Ilboru Safari Lodge; a pleasant lodge with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. Harmoniously woven into the surrounding African landscape, Ilboru Safari Lodge rests at the base of the majestic Mt. Meru. Stay comfortably in your private bungalow reminiscent of a traditional Swahili ‘boma’.
Today, after an early breakfast, you will be travelling to the first national park of this trip: Lake Manyara National Park.
On arrival you will stretch your legs during a 2 to 3-hour village walk in cozy ‘Mto Wa Mbu’. Here you will meet the local community, taste homemade banana beer, learn about the Makonde woodcarvings and listen to your guide who will tell you everything about the way of living in this village. After the village walk, you will have a local lunch.
In the afternoon you enter Lake Manyara National Park. This is a small but very beautiful park offering breathtaking views, excellent game viewing and an incredible array of birdlife. You have a chance to spot zebra, baboon, warthog, giraffe, impala, elephant, hippo, wildebeest and the rare tree climbing lion. Retire to your accommodation for overnight stay.. Take a refreshing dip in the inviting outdoor pool and enjoy the fantastic sunset with a cold drink on the veranda!
After breakfast, you depart for the most famous safari park in the world: Serengeti National Park.
The Serengeti hosts the most extensive population of wild animals on earth and has a complex and untouched ecosystem. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the language of the Maasai, a description that the Serengeti completely lives up to. These endless plains have to be experienced to be fully appreciated!
You visit the heart of the Serengeti, Seronera Valley. This valley might be termed as the ‘classic’ Serengeti; short grass plains with all different kind of wild animals ranging from the impressive lion to the naughty mongoose. From the park entrance you game drive towards your accommodation for tonight.
After the incredible impressions of the Serengeti, you’ll retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Tonight you can share your Serengeti experiences around the campfire!
Early in the morning you leave the camp for a full day safari! Most of the national park is open and grassy. Ultimately, the success of any safari lies in the number and quality of encounters with big cats. There are thousands of lions in the Serengeti and you have a fair chance to see cheetahs, although they are difficult to spot. And when it comes to leopards, the Serengeti rarely disappoints!
We will find you a nice picnic spot to enjoy your packed lunch and then you slowly continue your safari.
Keep your eyes open since you still have chances to see all kinds of animals roaming the plains, hidden behind bushes or resting in a tree. You never know when and were exactly you will spot wildlife.
Back at the lodge you will have an excellent dinner and some time to relax.
Today you enjoy a long game drive on your way out of the beautiful Serengeti and continue to the Ngorongoro Crater.
In the afternoon, you will have a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater!
As an UNESCO World Heritage Site the crater offers a unique biosphere which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. There are very few places in the world where you can find such a large population of wildlife throughout the year.
Deep within the crater, enclosed by towering walls, you have a good chance of spotting ‘The Big 5’: Lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. For the latter two you need a bit of luck as they tend to shy away. Approximately 30 000 animals live on the crater floor!
After this great experience, you drive to your Lodge to enjoy dinner and an en-suite fireplace.
Today is unfortunately the last day of your trip with Hail Tours Uganda! After breakfast you will depart for Arusha.
Depending on the time your flight departs, there might be some time left today to take a dive in the pool, have a massage or take a yoga class. All activities today are at your own expense.
Your driver/guide will take care of your transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport. If you do not want the fun to end contact Hail Tours for one of our exciting extensions for example to the tropical Island of Zanzibar!
