Murchison falls along river Nile is a true master piece of nature! In a small space a million cubic meters of water from the Nile squeeze themselves through the Albertine gorge as they make their way 6,853 km (4,258 miles) towards Egypt. Many people wonder how the scenic falls would actually be, but once you are on top of them and see the entire Nile going through a small gap, it makes sense why so many visitors make the trip. The Nile River is about 50 meters wide on top just before the falls, it drops down 43 meters through a 7-meter-wide gorge.

The journey to the top is a long one but once you reach this place, it becomes worth it. The thunderous spectacle and noise made by the water as it passes through the tiny hole is magnificent – one not to be missed by anyone with the means because no better words can explain the display. This island holds a morbid history of a tradition that was upheld for quite a long time by the local people. Young girls who got pregnant before marriage were taken to this island and tied to the one tree that sits on the islands to atone for their transgressions. As times changed, this tradition was ignored and regarded as an outdated ancient tradition.

A visit to Kyahugye Island also considered one of the most exciting islands, here there are a number of animals you can see. The Island is home of Zebras, Waterbucks, Impalas and a lot more. Day 12: Lake Mburo Game drive and Boat Cruise.

The best way to fully explore Lake Mburo National Park is by driving. A game drive in Lake Mburo National Park gives you the best opportunity for seeing the impala and zebra. These two species define Lake Mburo, because it is the only place in Uganda to see the majestic impala and the only easily accessible place to see Burch ell’s zebra (the other being Kidepo which is hard to reach). Game drives in this park take different paths and the choice of the best one will depend on the season. During the dry season, animals usually converge around the swamps and lakes; this grants you a remarkable photo opportunity – a magnitude of wild African animals with the sparkling lakes in the background.

An afternoon boat cruise on the famous Lake Mburo is one of the most sought after activities. Crocodiles crawling into the water, hippos dunking themselves in the lake to escape the heat at high noon, zebras, antelopes, and buffaloes coming for refreshment during the dry season are sights that await you while on a boat ride. Being up close with these animals in their habitat is one of the best experiences a boat ride can give.

Remember to carry your binoculars and bird book because of the water birds in this vicinity. The no. 1 attraction is the elusive African Finfoot and the beautiful Malachite Kingfisher & Pied Kingfisher fishing. Enjoy Gorillas and Big-5 Safari Tours
